How do we make a difference in our client’s business development strategy?
We often find that our clients’ existing business development strategy is based on too many “targets”. For instance, we will be presented with a long list of say lawyers’ in a particular practice or a list of the Top 100 leaders in a geography or sector. Whilst these targets may be our client’s ideal buyers, we know from experience that this approach is actually extremely unproductive, impossible to track and rarely generates authentic relationships let alone new revenue. For the record, successful business development leaders, the ones that earn their pay at risk, would never accept a strategy comprised of long target lists.
We will co-develop with our clients a clear, easy strategy based on proven approaches focussed on a handful of key targets with attainable metrics. Our strategies are usually two pages or less. We always aim for one page strategies because we know that this is all that’s needed to deliver results.
